12 more days for Christmas. :)

2 Macc 10: 7-8

"Therefore, carrying ivy wreathed wands and beautiful branches and  also  fronds of palm,
they offered hymns
of Thanksgiving to Him
Who had given success to the
purifying of His own holy place."

     ~*~

I know it isn't Wednesday to technically call this a #VerseEveryWednesday post but I think I haven't done a post in a long time, so I guess it's okay?

This verse was the first one I laid eyes on when I opened the Holy Bible and it touched me especially, because I've been struggling with the lent and I know that's how it is when you have to sacrifice something you like but it's my first time and it's pretty rough.

And people keep forgetting that I'm lenting -or pretend to- and insist on offering me sweets every now and then because its general knowledge that I like chocolates.

I do, yes. But not when I'm trying to give them up, and for Christ's sake, don't do this to anyone taking lent. It's a cruel, cruel thing to do.

Beauty in verse

There's this book on WattPad that has me breathless with wonder. Absolutely. Literally. I've come to the conclusion that each and every one of you reading this (even if its only one of you) READ IT.

F.A.I.T.H.

On WattPad.

Read it. Vote for it.

Quickly do, my sweetums.. And tell me about how breathless you got with it.

Taking lent, anyone?

I am trying to take a 'lent' as they call it, on sweets. Sweets meaning, candy, chocolate, pastries anything that makes for dessert. It's harder than it seems, this sacrificing.

5 days down, 20 more to go. It would have been worthwhile some, if I lost weight along the way too but the damn weighing machine seems to want to depress me for eternity.

I made this band (some string) to wear around my right hand -to remind me of my lent- in case my body goes on autopilot and  reaches for something I shouldn't be having. Which is happening a lot.

My mother said she heard me crying in the night, and when she asked me why I mumbled something along the lines of "The cakes calling me but I can't move"

I think I'll survive. I hope. If I do, I'll let you know. If I don't, I'll tell my mom to let you guys know.

Okay, so for those of you in similar conditions as mine, darlings, let's do this together.

So painful is this love that I can't keep,
Burning my skin though I haven't touched
Cutting through my heart, cutting so deep
Your knife and my love remain clutched
So painful it is to be loved.

Forgive the crappy poetry, I'm suffering from aglycophobia.

Of things and hence

Reckon a moment when you're balancing a lemon on a spoon (or something it's just for instance) and it's teetering and you think you've got it but then it falls off and you lose the race and you think : I saw it coming.

(Not that you will lose, darling don't be a pessimist like me.)

Exactly then, I can see what's about to happen, I can see it coming and it's not nice.

I was talking to my mom and about possibilites, and she said,

"Don't think about the possibilities. Just think of what you want, and try to achieve it"

It's a nice ideology, yes. And I love my mom for being so encouraging, yes. But I have this problem of thinking much too far and much too deep about things and hence.

I want that great, big love. I know I'm much too young, and much too naive, but I see him there, yes?

I know the heartache and the sad days and all those cliche things that come with teenage hormone driven loves but I guess that's all it is, my great, big love will wait. For now, I want that cliche.

Don't hate me for being sentimental, it's the hormones I swear. And a little bit of tequila.

Shaken, not stirred.

#PrayforParis

How can we fix this?

Prayer can definitely help, in offering a foundation to build a belief that things will get better. That what's happening now is just a series of unfortunate events. That with our praying, things will fix themselves.

But here's something I think a lot of inspiring political leaders had in common when they were trying their part in making peace among nations or among people.

We talk so much of love, but do we know much of it? Ill tell you what.

We let ourselves get consumed by emotions so easily, and we type out long essays online but it never gets through, no body cares, online or offline.

How do we fix this? Have you heard of "Treat others the way you would like them to treat you"? It's something I keep in mind all the time and here's something, if you're nice to someone they automatically tend to return the favour simply because its human nature and their subconscious is telling them that you're a nice person, and they have to be a nice person in return.

Pride is just an annoying curry stain on your shirt and you have to get it out if you want to look decent.

We can do this, humans. We can work this out. We can love each other. We can hold each other. We can listen for a while. We can offer a hand, a shoulder, a hug, some ears, a little bit of love to brighten up a day and I'm telling you we can work this out.

If we all give up then who's going to fight? We need to keep believing in ourselves. In humanity. In universal love.

If those bastards can keep together we can to. And we can all fight this together. We have to kill their hate with our love. They target us only because they know of this one thing, our lack of fraternity.

But we can show them. We can.

Love freely, please. I know no ones going to read this, but I have a burning hope for humanity and I want to make a difference however pointless it may seem.

I love you all.

Something I have to say.

We had a group assignment based on anything related to current affairs and my group, we were discussing some ideas and let me tell you this, (and I'm not bragging; its not a matter of pride for me) they depended on me to do the poster and the art presentation because I was the only one good at it. So, then someone comes up with the idea of doing a poster on ISIS.

ATM I was completely taken aback. Why do an assignment based on a group of monsters?
Why have anything to do with them at all? We lived in India! And there were so many other relevant topics to choose from and they choose this! I was in complete disagreement.

But then I figured, maybe they meant a poster against the ISIS, which I thought was agreeable. I would do that any day. And just when I thought things were going well, someone else goes,

"Oh and how about we make it like an invitation to join ISIS?"

I had never felt so angry, or so shocked at the same time. One because, what kind of person would even suggest an idea like that? Could anyone be so completely shallow? Can't they see the kind of things they do? Can't they see the war, the sorrow, the madness, the pain?

I was stunned. And furious. I wasn't going to have anything to do with it. I told them so.
I said I wasn't going to use the talents that my God whom I believe in, has given me, for a bunch of extremists who have caused such great suffering in this world! I knew there would be arguments and that they would talk behind my back even, but I didn't give a rats ass. I knew in my heart that I was brought up a certain way and that I wasn't going to support something like that, no matter how cool or how entertaining it may seem.

It isn't cool. End of story.

I was adamant, and they finally caved in. It took a week.  I maybe overreacting, or dramatic but I believed in something and I loved what I believed in with all my heart and I wasn't going to have something that has brought pain and suffering upon people to come into my life in any kind of way, and definitely not in my studies.

That's the end of this rant. I'm sorry if I bored you, or if this is just another addition to every other one of my meaningless posts on this blog but you see, this is the only place where I can express my feelings and thoughts, and I apologise if I'm annoying. There are tons of better blogs to look at.

#VersesEveryWednesday

Psalm 94:22

"But The Lord has become my stronghold,
And my God the rock of my refuge."

I love this line, it's so beautiful and believing, if that makes any sense.

I don't want to interpret anything, it'll only take away the enigmatic charm that comes with Bible verses that touch your heart. Or just mine.

Sing Hallelujah.
